CBC Exclusive Interview | Winnipeg Chinese Dragon Dance Team Featured in Mainstream Media
In celebration of Asian Heritage Month 2025 in Manitoba, the Winnipeg Chinese Dragon Dance Group (Adult and Youth Teams) was honored to be featured in a special interview by senior CBC journalist Shannah-Lee Vidal! The report aired on CBC Morning News on May 12, and will continue to be showcased on CBC television news programs throughout the week.
As Manitoba’s first dragon dance team, the Winnipeg Chinese Dragon Dance Group has been actively involved in various multicultural events since its founding in 2019, promoting traditional Chinese arts. Over seven years of development, the team has grown increasingly skilled and professional. Their performances are vibrant and captivating, making them a standout highlight at festivals and celebrations.
In 2024, we partnered with the Winnipeg Chinese Senior Association to establish a Youth Dragon Dance Team (for ages 6 to 12), bringing youthful energy to this traditional art form. This initiative allows the next generation to feel pride and connection through cultural inheritance, adding both entertainment and educational value to our performances.
